Summary
A wonderful example of BMW’s high performance saloon of the time, and to be honest it doesn’t disappoint even by today’s standards. The smooth & quiet ride, balanced handling, 3. 4 litre 6 cylinder engine and super smooth very capable automatic gearbox make for a fantastic driving experience … ‘The Ultimate Driving Machine’ indeed.
With 211 bhp, a top speed of 144 mph and 0-60 in 7. 4
seconds this was a game changer in 1988 & is still a seriously good car to drive today.
Finished in Bronze with a Natural cloth interior (aka Biege) it’s in superb condition, hardly surprising given its only covered 84, 500 miles; an average of just 2, 361 per year, with only 2 former keepers; the 2nd for 22 years and 3rd for 11, this one has definitely not been drifted across Morrisons car park.
It retains the original handbook, with 14 BMW/ Specialist stamps upto 70, 930 miles in 2008 - having been used sparingly for the 15, 000 miles its covered since, and a collection of invoices and receipts supporting proper maintenance.
The interior is in outstanding condition, particularly given the colour, with switchgear reported to be in good working order. The paintwork is showing some minor age related marks, there are 2 small dents in the boot lid and the headlamp washer units are not in situ.
It is running, driving and stopping well, a pleasure to take out on the road and its very hard to believe you are in a 37 year old car!
MOT’d to July 2025, with a recent service, it’s driving brilliantly and could happily be called into service as a very capable daily driver, or be kept for high days and holidays - you will definitely raise a smile at any classic car meet/ event in this.
