Known in their day as hairy-chested drivers cars, they earned their reputation with rally and race success, and still provide a thrilling drive with many of our customers touring with them in Europe hailing their long legs and torquey engines making progress effortless.
The “Big Healey’s” have long been viewed as the ultimate British sports cars of the 1960s. Development of the line started with the 1952 Healey 100 launched at the London Motor Show. The evocative lines and superb handling of the Healey made it a sleek and successful rally car all around the world. With its 6-cylinder engine giving plenty of torque, the cars are more than quick enough to keep up with modern-day traffic.
This stunning example finished in the best colour combination was supplied new in 1965 as a UK RHD where it has remained ever since and is a matching numbers car with Heritage certificate.
A complete and thorough restoration was completed in the 1990s to a very high standard by a renowned Austin Healey specialist importantly utilising Aluminium panels which is all documented with photos, invoices etc.
The mechanicals were also rebuilt and the engine built to fast road specification By the renowned Denis Welch.
She has been owned by an enthusiast post-restoration for the past few years having covered around 18000 miles since restoration and presents superbly today with a quality rarely found in some inferior restorations.

On the road, these early Healey’s are great fun, especially considering this one is nearly 60 years old and this one is hard to beat with a great colour combination.
She drives beautifully and the phase two cars were the last 3000s in production and some say the beat of all the Big Healeys with a great torquey engine and long-legged overdrive gearbox meaning effortless high-speed cruising.
