Description
1958 JAGUAR MK1 3. 4 LT - MANUAL - 96, 780 MILES SHOWING - A$59, 900
Presenting in British Racing Green with Green leather interior trim.
A great deal of attention and expense has been spent on this car in recent years by a previous owner with Price Alexander Motors in Adelaide. Documents are held to support this work.
As a direct result, this car presents very well and it is a pleasure to drive.
A true classic English sports sedan and quite rare in Mk 1 form.
Powered by a non matching number, but period correct Jaguar 3. 4 Litre 6 cylinder engine, it was claimed to produce when new 156Kw and 293Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox together with overdrive. Performance would be in the region of 0-100kph in just under 10 secs and a top speed near 195kph.
Another slight variation with this car is the rear end, taken from a Mk2 Jaguar, thereby giving it a slightly wider and more attractive rear look.
The interior trim looks original and shows signs of wear and patina over some 60 years of use. The current owner is a huge fan of the late legendary British racing driver Mike Hawthorn and car currently wears the same registration number (VDU-881) as Mike Hawthorn's Mk 1 Jaguar. You could say this is a tribute car to the late Mike Hawthorn's car.
A car that the next owner will enjoy continuing to fettle to carefully maintain it's period appeal.
4 original style chrome wire wheels are included in this sale.
This car would make a perfect classic car to enjoy for club runs, events and shows, being a manual with overdrive, bucket seats and wire wheels.
Eminently eligible for Historic registration in most jurisdictions, this equates to minimal on road costs.
