Of all of the Chimaeras built, very few were 500s, so this is a rare car in itself, add to that the moonraker black paintwork, the additions of PAS a Syvecs ECU upgrade, Wilwood big brakes and the battery re-location to the boot, you’ve got all the makings of a very tasty TVR!
The car has benefited from both cosmetic and performance upgrades during its life, so it is a unique proposition for the new owner, it is the best driving Chimaera we’ve ever had through the workshop, thanks to the host of upgrades and amazing history it has.
Not only does it drive well, but with only 31k miles on the clock, it presents rather nicely too. Yes, there are marks on the paint as with any 27-year-old car, but with the leather nice and bright, fresh carpets throughout and an almost unmarked hood and rear screen, the car is in very nice order throughout.
Fire the car up and even in the coldest of weather, it’ll bark into life and settle instantly into a super smooth idle, thanks to the ECU upgrade. It drives very smoothly at any pace and it really does take the Rover V8 into the 21st century. The car stops just as well as it goes, thanks to the massive Wilwood 4 pot callipers up front, filling the wheels nicely. The exhaust is modded slightly (sleeved) to provide the full TVR sound track too, what more could you ask for!
TECHNICAL SPEC:
The history file is as good as any with this car, showing that it has a huge amount of love lavished on it over the years. With a great factory spec including the power steering, the car has only been improved on since and therefore has to be one of the very best Chimaeras you’d be lucky enough to drive. Every little detail and upgrade you’d look for has been dealt with already, you really do just need to get in and enjoy it!
