Description
This 1978 MGB GT, originally a UK home market RHD model with chassis number GHD5-458856 G, was rescued from a deteriorating state in March 2000 by a prominent member of the German judiciary. Originally finished in the iconic British Leyland color of Russet Brown, the vehicle truly reflects the era it hails from.
After being brought to Germany, it underwent a comprehensive frame-off restoration and remained with the same owner until 2024. Although imported with all duties paid, the car was never registered in Germany; instead, it was acquired specifically for the purpose of restoration and participation in classic car rallies, using personal trade plates for driving.
The car is accompanied by an extensive collection of spares and is configured to a Rallye-style specification, ideal for the right enthusiast. It presents an opportunity for continued Rallye-style use or further restoration, as its overall condition offers a superb foundation. The vehicle's impressive maintenance history, documented in a comprehensive file, includes numerous invoices detailing a complete engine and mechanical overhaul from 2000 to 2024. The car is offered as seen: scratched passenger window with spare available. Open steering column and glove box.
