The Honda S2000 was launched in 1999 to instantly become the production car record holder for the highest specific power output per litre of any naturally aspirated car. ‘MA08 0HU’ hails from the second generation, AP1 iteration of this high revving, front engine, rear wheel drive sports coupe. Furthermore, ‘MA08 0HU’ is the range topping GT model which came with factory supplied hardtop and outside temperature gauge. With a very modest 39, 200 miles or so covered and just four owners to date, ‘MA08 0HU’ comes with a partial service history. Between 2011 and 2018 it is reported that the S2000 was serviced and maintained privately but all other years are stamped in the service booklet. ‘MA08 0HU’ holds an advisory free MOT until March 2026 so is the perfect sporting choice for the upcoming summer.
The second generation S2000 served to build on the superb reputation established by the AP1. The remarkable F20C two-litre engine remained with the double overhead camshaft VTEC unit delivering 237bhp at a screaming 8, 300rpm with an 8, 800rpm redline. For the AP1, however, the suspension geometry was tweaked to improve stability, 17-inch alloys were introduced, and the bumper aesthetics were revised. Inside, the dashboard retained its digital design in tribute to late eighties McLaren-Honda Formula-1 racing cars in recognition of Honda’s racing pedigree.
‘MA08 0HU’ presents in Silverstone Metallic livery and remains complete with its original factory aluminium hardtop, stand and cover. This easily detaches to reveal an electrically operated black cloth hood. The overtly sports orientated cabin is finished in black leather. The vendor reports that ‘MA08 0HU’ has been undersealed with a “rust proof guarantee” and confirms that he has added only 9, 000 miles in his five year tenure. With ‘MA08 0HU’ always garaged during this time it will be no surprise that all aspects of the car are vendor rated as “excellent” with only the bodywork garnering a “good” rating.
