We are very pleased to offer an absolute legend in the Classic Mini World. The Austin Mini Moke which needs no introduction. Genuine UK Mini Mokes have always been a very rare sight but yet have remained iconic and sought after. Offering all the thrills of the Classic Mini but on another level for the driving experience. This 1964 example is presented in very good condition that could sit proudly on any show stand but is also ready to be driven and enjoyed. This is also one of the oldest in existence, manufactured for just four years with a build total of 14500, this one is number 283 so one of the very first, it is accompanied with a heritage certificate which states it was supplied new by A. C Turner in Plymouth. It has remarkably only had three owners in 58 years. It was restored over twenty years ago to a high standard and has settled nicely and has clearly been very well cared for since.
Designed initially for what BMC hoped would be for Military purposes, a light weight utility vehicle that could be used in many different scenarios, with ground clearance being its issue it was quickly adapted for road use and has since gone on to achieve global fame with many variations and uses including TV fame. Nothing has compared since for simple design and a multitude of uses and having an original one from just four short years of production is a real privilege.
On the road is where Mokes come into there own. The Classic Mini driving experience is on offer here but paired down with just a simple single centre clock, steering wheel and four seats. Nothing I have driven compares to these machines, they are very addictive as you feel totally connected to the car and road. Our example has some sensible modern day upgrades. It benefits form having a 998 engine that combined with the Mokes light weight body means that performance is brisk and it easily keeps up with modern traffic. It also has Cooper S disc brakes instead of the original drum brakes and Minilte wheels with wider profile tyres giving you even more confidence on the twisty stuff. What I can guarantee is that you will have a huge grin.
The interior is very functional and finished to a high standard. It has new seat pads and the advantage of seat belts. The floors are gleaming and protected front and rear with fitted rubber matts. It has a period steering wheel and all of its original switch gear. It benefits from useful auxiliary Oil pressure and Water temp gauges. The tilt frame is the original and the covering has been replaced. In a few moments the frame can be tilted back to give the full wind in the hair experience.
This Moke has a very solid body and is as good underneath as it is on top. The British Racing green paintwork is virtually blemish free and really gives the Moke a classy look. The engine bay is also nicely detailed
The Moke is fully serviced, tuned, checked and driven. It is also MOT and tax exempt
