‘CUY605N’ has been thoroughly restored by the current vendor into a distinctive and individual “restomod” interpretation of the esteemed GT6. Over £13, 000 has been spent on parts and many hundreds of hours expended on getting ‘CUY605N’ to where it is today. The vendor has diligently addressed every aspect this GT6 with many new body panels fitted, a full engine rebuild and upgrade, a contemporary looking respray and distinctive Compomotive wheels. The results speak for themselves by creating a surprisingly modern looking GT6 that belies its 50-plus years. ‘CUY605N’ is classified as an Historic Vehicle and so is MOT exempt and zero rated for road tax. It is a late model, thought to be just 10 cars or so from the end of production. ‘CUY605N’ is being offered today with no reserve and complete with plenty of instructive paperwork.
The schedule of works undertaken on ‘CUY605N’ is so extensive and exhaustive that it necessitates only the highlights being touched on here. Bodily both floor pans were replaced, together with the rear inner wheel arches, rear outer wings, rear lower inner wings, boot floor rear valance, sills with new reinforcer, lower firewall sections and more. Whilst the body was off the chassis was treated to new front outriggers, bonnet boxes, crossmember, chassis rail sections and other components. It was then painted black with chassis paint and rebuilt with all new bushes and hardware, braided Goodridge brake hoses, new trunnions and ball joints with many other parts. GAZ adjustable shock absorbers and new springs are fitted. The GT6’s engine was stripped and rebuilt with new bearings, piston rings and timing chain. A Kent PH2 camshaft was fitted, along with new tappets and all new gaskets. A new clutch and slave cylinder where fitted. The carburettors where fully rebuilt and an aluminium radiator and electric cooling fan The overdrive gearbox was rebuilt approximately 1000 miles ago.
The interior has thoroughly restored too, of course, with new carpets and underlay, new seat covers, door cards and headlining. A quality Mota-Lita steering wheel has been added as has together with a matching gear knob. All electrics have been recommissioned and a new Autosparks loom fitted. The curvy body of ‘CUY605N’ has been painted in light metallic grey with black accents. A Le Mans style front splitter is fitted as our period look bullet wing mirrors and pressed number plates. The vendor rates the engine, transmission and electrics as “excellent” and paintwork, bodywork and interior as “good.”
