This Late UK Specification 1. 8 MK1 MX-5 has been very well preserved and maintained throughout its life, amazingly still showcased in its complete factory specification. Bought new from “Whichford Mazda’ in August 1996, this example has been enjoyed and extremely well cherished almost every year since, with more than frequent maintenance proven by a stack of invoices and service stamps, as well as the original dealership handbooks and folder. The car was garage stored and preserved from 2022 up until late 2024, where it received a full recommission solely as preventative maintenance. This included a Cambelt and Waterpump, alongside a Full Major Service and Overhaul, making this example fully good to go with a Full Years MOT till 20/ 02/ 2026.
Bodywork wise, this example is completely rust free. Both Rear Arches Wings are presented in flawless condition all the way around, with original spot welds still visible around the top of the rear arches. Both sits again are in completely rust free condition all the way along, with welding on both rear sills ends completed to a very high standard in Early 2020, removing some minor surface rust that was mentioned on the 16/ 10/ 19 MOT. ‘The British Racing Green’ Paintwork presents in overall amazing condition, with only a few minimal age and mileage related marks on a couple of panels, most noticeably some minimal stone chips on the bonnet. The Interior further displays how well this car has been preserved, still in immaculate, untouched condition. Both Factory Original Leather Seats show little to no signs of wear, paired with all trim and accessories again in immaculate condition, with only a small split in the plastic cover under the steering wheel to fault.
Mechanically the car starts, runs, drives and stops absolutely flawlessly. Being a Late UK Example, these were optioned from the factory without electric windows and power steering, giving it the ‘raw feeling’ that is looked for in a Mazda MX-5, alongside specifically for this example the more powerful 1. 8 Engine. Albeit a higher mileage example currently reading 144, 635 Miles, the frequent use and maintenance have kept the engine in perfect health throughout the years, making it just as reliable and desirable as any lower mileage examples.
