Some cars transcend the boundaries of engineering and become rolling works of art. This 1967 Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada is undoubtedly one of them. This Bizzarrini is one of the last-built examples of the 5300 GT. The chassis construction began in 1968 at the Bizzarrini factory, but due to the poor financial condition of Bizzarrini S. p. The chassis remained unfinished but was eventually completed in 1977 with a new body and mechanical components (including the engine) by Laboratorio Automotori di Bizzarrini. A notarized letter from Mr. Bizzarrini confirms this. Furthermore, it underwent a four-year, bare-metal restoration, overseen by former chief race mechanic Stefano Volpi. Every detail was restored to perfection, while Corsa-spec modifications were implemented to further enhance its driving dynamics. Since completion, it has only covered 250 kilometers, ensuring its concours-level condition.
A Race-Bred Grand Tourer
Although designated as a road car, the 5300 GT Strada is essentially a race car for the street. Its lightweight bodywork, advanced semi-monocoque chassis, and mid-front-engine layout offer a level of balance and precision that few road cars of its era could match.
At its heart lies a 5. 3-liter Chevrolet V8. Paired with its race-inspired chassis and near-perfect weight distribution, the Strada was capable of reaching an astonishing top speed of 290 km/ h (180 mph), outpacing many of its Italian contemporaries.
