Another unique bike added to our showroom collection and now offered for sale. This special Honda CR 500cc Two Stroke as featured in a BeMoto special blog which have tie in with Bike World who we are partnered with.
Honda CRs can trace their roots back to the 1973 ‘Lake Elsinore’ 250 model, which immediately proved popular and the series grew to offer a 450 two-stroke in 1981. That became a CR500 in 1984 and then water cooling was added a year later.
These bikes, up to and including the 1988 model, are notorious for their bottom end power. From 1989, Honda revised the engine for a more linear powerband and less compression to make it easy to kick start. From 1993 until 2001, pretty much only graphics changed and then Honda killed it off, mainly due to two-strokes becoming less popular and no real class to race them in.
After enjoying the bike in its original state, the owner decided to get Chris Thorpe from Raven Motorcycles who is also well known with BeMoto for his insane builds put a different take on it, which is what you see today. Chris did a complete nut and bolt switch up so that the frame could be transformed into that expensive Satin Black Ducati colour that completely sets off the bespoke VDB shorted Aprilia swing arm, just wants to wheelie all day long. Upgrade the front end to a custom set of RMZ triple clamps and naturally went for Ohlin’s too. Beautiful set of oversized titanium foot pegs, brand new wheels a new set of TKC80 tyres that when scrubbed in stick like slicks on the road but still give the bike that MX look. New set of plastics and custom graphics by Danger UK which also included a custom-made seat cover.
