Offered for sale on behalf of the owner is this beautifully restored Triumph GT6 Mark 3 dated from 1973.
Registered new on 1st September 1973 in Worcestershire, this stunning GT6 is a RHD, home market example originally supplied in Mimosa yellow with black upholstery. The specification listed when new included an overdrive, heater, static seatbelts and dip left lighting. Since taking to the road in 1973, the logbook records seven former keepers. This car is accompanied by a substantial folder of paperwork including a current V5C, invoices dating back to the mid 1990s, valuations and a factory record certificate. A valuation from a few years ago described the car as A1+ across the board suggesting it would require little effort to be considered concourse. Our view of the car is that very little has changed and it is a fine example.
Being the GT6, it is a 1998cc (2 litre) straight 6 cylinder petrol engine. It has a 4-speed (plus reverse) gearbox as well as an overdrive. The speedo is showing 27, 198 miles which is unverified however the trip on the speedo showing around 190 miles is the distance travelled since a recent engine overhaul. The interior has that classic 70s charm with the analogue dials, chunky heater controls and veneer dashboard. It has a wonderfully feel of originality with smart black upholstery throughout making it a pleasure to sit in the driving seat.
Externally the chrome is in very good condition and the yellow bodywork pops with vibrance! There are no obvious paintwork blemishes and underneath is tidy. It starts, drives and stops exactly as it should being a real driver’s car. It will be sold with a new MOT – albeit not a legal requirement given it benefits from being a historic vehicle so tax and MOT exempt.
Overall, this is an honest, 1970s throwback which is a delight to drive and will be sure to bring many miles of joy to the buyer!
