When launched in 1955 the Citroen DS redefined styling, its sweeping design, incredible suspension, and comfort beyond even the most celebrated manufacturers, meant that these cars were chosen by dignitaries and diplomats all over the world.
This, well-travelled, example has graced the streets of the Netherlands where it was first registered, Italy where it was in the hands of an enthusiast and more latterly leafy Warwickshire where it has been the weekend joy for our airline pilot vendor
It's a DS21 'Injection Electronique' powered by a 2175cc four-cylinder engine fitted with Bosch electronic injection, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, and trimmed to 'Pallas' spec, so would have been the top-of-the-range at the time. Dating from 1970, it's a Series 3 with the directional headlights
Gradually restored over a period of years since 2016, it now presents really well in its original Bordeaux (AC421) with a Pearl Grey roof and a distinctive Red Jersey interior
Sympathetic upgrades, including a 123 Ignition System to alleviate some of the issues of the early Bosch units, and rear seatbelts otherwise the car has been maintained with the aim of retaining as much originality as possible
Despite being 70-years old, the design still looks fresh today and those Gallic good-looks remain head-turning. We encourage your inspection of this iconic Citroen at our NEC Sale
