The Vauxhall Victor FC was produced between 1963 and 1967. It was marketed as the “101” indicating the number of changes over the outgoing FB. The model sold reasonably well with nearly 250, 000 produced but they are a very rare sight today.
This car is a 1967 Victor FC Deluxe with optional four-speed floor change transmission, in Pinewood Green with a green trim. The mileage reading is 37, 000, which is almost certainly correct; an old MOT test sheet from 1987 shows the mileage at 33, 000.
This car has recently had a long list of cosmetic and mechanical improvements and it presents and drives beautifully. Within the last few hundred miles it has had an engine and gearbox oil change, new (electric) fuel pump, carburettor, fuel tank, sender unit and various brake and electrical parts.
The upper body and paint are good with various very minor imperfections and “touch ins” close up. The underside is also in good order, thanks to a dealer supplied under-seal and as far as we can see has never been welded with the exception of a small plate on the inner wing and one in one of the back doors. The window rubbers and bright-work are excellent and indicate a car that has been stored correctly when not in use. The interior is in beautiful condition and is original, including the carpets. On the road this Vauxhall drives very sweetly, the 1600cc pushrod engine is quiet and smooth and the controls have a light feel in keeping with the mileage reading.
This Victor is by no means a concours car – the upper body has had some paint and one or two repairs but it is still remarkably original and an interesting alternative to a Farina or Cortina for less money. We have sold various 60’s Vauxhalls and this one is surprisingly pleasant and comfortable to drive unlike some tired examples.
