Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The February Timed Online Auction on Thursday the 27th of February. Background:
The Austin Healey needs no introduction as one of the UK's great sports cars, epitomising the look of the beefy 1950s British sports car.
Hailing from Fargo in North Dakota, Classic Roadsters have long aimed to create cars with familiar looks but modern and reliable underpinnings. The Saxon was designed to offer the classic Healey aesthetic without the downsides, featuring a fibreglass body over a custom tubular chassis with handpicked suspension components, all married to a variety of engine and transmission choices.
The Car:
Built in 1991, this Saxon was constructed around the venerable Nissan 280Z six-cylinder 2. 8-litre engine and 5-speed transmission, all fed through triple Weber carburettors and a custom exhaust system — doubtless adding to its factory-rated 170bhp. Whilst built in the US, we believe it was then shipped to a customer in Japan, benefiting from salt-free roads before coming to the UK in 1996. The current keeper has kept the car garaged throughout ownership, never driving it on wet roads during this time.
The car presents well in a striking period livery. The hood is excellent, as is the interior. The body is also in good condition, with just a couple of faint areas of microblistering in small sections.
Sold ready to hit the road, with a fresh MOT and four excellent Bridgestone tyres. A thick history file is present and carries such detail that it includes its original PDI sheet and build certificate. A perfect buy for someone seeking Healey looks with modern reliability.
Please note that the number plate will be removed and will revert to its original registration, J863 TTM.
