Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show 2025 on Saturday the 22nd of March - Sunday the 23rd of March, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT.
Designed to showcase the new smooth and torquey 5. 3-litre engine, originally developed for Le Mans, the Series 3 cars were available as a Roadster or a 2+2 Coupé
They were easily identifiable by a large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, a larger bonnet bulge, updated bumpers, four exhaust tips and a badge on the rear that proclaimed it to be a V12
The S3 also featured uprated brakes, power steering as standard and a large horizontal scoop added to the underside of the bonnet to assist with cooling
UK-supplied in 1972, this example is finished in Jaguar Black with a full-length Webasto sunroof over a black leather interior with black carpets
We understand that it underwent a full bare-metal restoration by R. N. Upton in Tamworth during 1988 and they have maintained it for much of its life
It was purchased by its previous owner from his accountant in 1973, where it remained until his passing last year with little to no use and consequently is now in need of recommissioning
The Cherished Registration illustrated, PDD 12, does not form part of the sale
