Description
Hello and welcome to the sale of this superb kit car. Originally a Ford Cortina based 'Formula 27' kit car built and registered in 1994, the car has recently been completely transformed into a thoroughly modern looking Caterham style sports car. Every aspect has been totally overhauled, including the running gear, electricals, interior and bodywork, all to a very high standard. It is fitted with the well regarded 2. 0 Ford Zetec engine (was told it was a new crate engine, it looks new, although no proof), controlled by an Emerald ECU, along with a 5 speed Ford Type 9 gearbox, and independent rear suspension. As you can imagine it offers very brisk performance! It features GAZ shocks all round, and it naturally handles very well, but the ride is very compliant and does not shake your fillings out! The lightweight black and white bodywork is in immaculate condition, and features some nice carbon fibre front wheel arches and other neat carbon look items like the lamps and mirrors. The Wolfrace alloy wheels are in virtually as new condition and are shod with quality Toyo tyres all round. It has a custom roll over cage along with lightweight GRP bucket seats and four point sabelt harnesses. The wind in the hair experience is completed by the lack of windscreen and the addition of an aero screen instead, which works well (perhaps in conjunction with sunglasses or goggles!) You could of course fit padded seats and a windscreen if you preferred. Please note there is no wet weather gear for the car so dress appropriately! It has a very nice alcantara flat bottom steering wheel, and a very attractive and modern styled carbon fibre style dashboard with quality gauges, switches and controls. It appears to have a nice quality wiring loom, with nothing out of place and all electrics working as they should. The car has covered just 1700 miles since it's restoration, and comes with a good history file with old MOTs to help trace it's history and various useful documents and diagrams relating to the build and components. It has been fully inspected in our workshop and will have a new MOT. To sum up, this is a very attractive, drivable and enjoyable example of the iconic Lotus 7 style British sports car, it represents enormous value for money and I am sure the new owner will be very pleased!
