EXTERIOR
Finished in quintessential Epson Green over tan, this handsome V8 Range Rover looks fantastic beneath our studio lights. Unlike most P38s that have clocked up well over 100k miles, this particular example is fresh into stock with only 65k miles from new. In line with the low mileage but certainly not its 25 years of age, the condition of the car is first-rate. The dark green metallic paintwork presents to a very high standard all round having been ceramic coated last year to preserve its amazing condition. Looking along both sides the panels are very straight, and the lights front and rear are clear and undamaged. Better still, having spent most of its life on the salt-free roads of Japan, there are none of the usual P38 rust issues to note.
INTERIOR
Inside, passengers are treated to a very nicely appointed and spacious cabin in similarly excellent condition. The seats are trimmed in Sorrel leather with matching Sorrel carpets, original overmats, door cards, and lower dash panels. A perfect pairing with the exterior hue, the sumptuous upholstery is still notably soft with only some expected light wear on the driver’s bolster to evidence the car’s 65k original miles. Most Range Rovers of this vintage are likely to have been used daily as workhorses but with this particular car that is clearly not the case; even the boot area is remarkably clean and tidy. A full set of heavy-duty rubber overmats are included to protect the original Range Rover items.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 4. 6-litre Rover V8 sounds fantastic on idle with a deep burble through the stainless Double ‘S’ exhaust. The engine bay presents in very good original condition with no corrosion issues or signs of previous poor repair. The last service was completed by marque specialists, RR London, in October 2024 and included much of the work described below. Out on the road it’s a very comfortable ride thanks to the smooth automatic gearbox and adjustable air suspension.
HISTORY FILE
This handsome rust-free P38 was first supplied new in Japan in early 2000. It arrived in the UK in 2017 and is now offered for sale with only 65k miles (105, 048km) from new. Under current ownership the car has been looked after by RR London with whom the owner spent close to £9, 800 in late 2024. For the new keeper’s peace of mind, we have had an additional independent mechanical inspection carried out so she’s ready to be driven and enjoyed. Notable recent work includes:
- Full inspection to Land Rover specification
- Replace transmission pan, gasket, pipes, and filter
- Replace inflow and outflow oil cooler pipes
- Replace oil filter housing gasket and front crank seal
- Replace both rocker cover gaskets and associated components
- Carry out engine oil and filter change
- Replace sump gasket
- Replace coolant
- Replace brake fluid
- Replace front brake pads and discs
- Replace rear brake pads and discs
- Replace air suspension pump rubber mounts
The accompanying History File is complete with the original Land Rover document wallet and Japanese handbooks, an additional UK book back including a replacement service book and manuals, the V5C registration document, and invoices for the vast recent mechanical expenditure. A limited amount of paperwork is present but this is a very well sorted example and the condition really speaks for itself.
