HISTORY The 296 is a two-seater super car, offered as a GTB coupé. It is a plug-in hybrid with a rear mid-engine and rear-wheel drive, and its powertrain combines a 120-degree, twin-turbocharged V6 with an electric unit mounted between the engine and gearbox.
Unveiled on 24 June 2021, the 296 is Ferrari's first 6-cylinder production model, in addition to the Dino 206, 246 GT and 246 GTS, cars produced by Ferrari but sold under the Dino brand. The 296 GTB was unveiled on 24 June 2021 as the first 'true six-cylinder Ferrari'. Previously, models of this type had been designed and built by Ferrari, but marketed as a new entry-level Dino brand, below Ferrari's exclusively V12 models, until 1974. The new car will go on sale in 2022. The number 296 in the model name echoes the naming scheme of the original Dino, indicating the engine displacement and the number of cylinders. GTB stands for Gran Turismo Berlinetta.
