A retired engineering manager at British Airways, Mike also restores classic Italian motorcycles, and designs and builds working scale model steam engines. A fastidious engineer, he has enjoyed his 993 on numerous road trips and continuously improved the car, employing local Porsche specialist Martin Reed to take on bigger jobs where necessary. Significant works in his ownership include:

The car remains in superb condition throughout, the Polar Silver paintwork is even and largely free of any blemishes apart from a few stone chips. The grey leather interior shows almost no signs of any wear at all, testament to the incredibly high build quality and superb materials used on these models. The grey leather sports seats with Kevlar hardbacks are in particularly good order, and are extremely comfortable, with 4-way electric height adjustment. The 17″ New Cup Design wheels are in great condition, and fitted with excellent Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. The only modification from standard is the uprated Bilstein B6 dampers, which were fitted in May 2024 at 91, 283 miles. The underside of the car is very clean, with no signs of corrosion or fluid leaks of any kind.
The car drives superbly, with plentiful performance, accurate and feelsome steering, correct weighting to all the controls, strong brakes and a wonderful soundtrack courtesy of the air-cooled flat six in the tail. Everything works exactly as it should, with the exception of the air conditioning. The current owner had it recharged when he bought the car and it worked well for about two years. They are well known for minor leaks in the extensive pipework, so would probably work for a decent period with a recharge.
Accompanying the car is a stamped service book, 2 keys and 2 A4 files containing the extensive history. This is a superb manual 993 Carrera 4 coupe, one of the last air cooled 911s and a real testament to caring ownership and continuous maintenance.
