Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show 2025 on Saturday the 22nd of March - Sunday the 23rd of March, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT.
Originally supplied by Stewart and Arden of Acton, it was acquired in 2004 in a sorry state by our vendor who renovated/ rebuilt it over the next ten years with the help of Mini specialists, Janspeed
The original shell was largely beyond repair so it has been built around an age-related donor shell utilising panels from the original car
The emphasis during the rebuild was to represent the car as 'standard' resisting the urge to fit period and non-period modifications
All the relevant parts from the original car were transferred including the piano-hinge rear side windows, chrome-plated gear lever and of course, the 130mph speedometer
The interior is trimmed in new Tartan Red/ Gold Brocade Grey from Newton Commercial and it has reclining front seats
Mechanically, the car is standard Cooper 1275 S and it sits on standard ventilated steel 10" wheels
Only deviations from standard-spec are a conversion from Hydrolastic to dry/ rubber cone suspension for ease of maintenance going forward, a smaller diameter steering wheel (original size supplied) and a 'fly-off' type handbrake
The original jack and handbook are with the car as is its BMIHT Heritage Certificate
