The 1970 model was introduced to the assembly plants in February 1970, halfway through the model-year, and became know unofficially as the "1970½." model
This fabulous example was assembled in 1970 by General Motors Europe in Antwerp from CKD (crated knock-down) parts from the US and is therefore regarded as European-spec
Originally specified as an RS/ SS with the RS signifying Rally Sport equipment including a special grille and front end, bright mouldings etc. and the SS indicating an upgraded V8, chassis mods, power brakes and wider wheels and tyres
Imported into the UK from the Netherlands in 1979. Only two owners since 1984 and with our vendor since 2016
It underwent an extensive restoration and upgrade in the early 2000s, with all sheet metal done and repainted in the original Cranberry Red and fully Waxoyled
It has its original 4-bolt, 350ci, small-block V8 with TrickFlow aluminium heads, Hoosier headers and a 750cfm, a double pumper Holley carburettor and Pertronix ignition with appropriate coil and leads
All running through a TH350 auto gearbox to a Positraction rear axle suspended on composite springs with a rear anti roll bar. It also has nearly new dual, stainless steel exhaust and Goodrich tyres
Supplied with a body kit of front and rear spoilers (not fitted) and a KPH speedo is fitted but an MPH one is supplied with the car as are other spare gauges
This appears to be a well sorted and very rapid Camaro, a very approachable entry into the world of 1970s US 'pony cars'
