EXTERIOR
The Ferrari 488 is a design masterpiece that fuses the traditional mid engine platform with the very latest tech – distinguished by its sculpted lines, aggressive stance and eye catching side air intakes. The nose houses plenty of apertures for the two large radiators and the full-width suspended front wing, while the side profile features a deep recess much like the 308 ending in a huge air intake split into two by a central vane – feeding the intercoolers of the two turbos and creating an extra aerodynamic duct to improve down-force. The tail sits over air vents between the new three dimensional ring taillights in a perfectly coherent design that is wider and lower than before, finished off by a diffuser with active aero flaps, raised twin tailpipes and a central LED lamp.
Having covered just over 1k miles the condition of the bodywork is first class and been protected and enhanced further by a recent full ceramic coating.
INTERIOR
Greeted by exquisite Cuoio Carbon seats everything is driver-focused in the cabin with all main vehicle controls on the multifunction steering wheel, including the renowned ‘manettino’ selector, and on the lateral satellite pods which also include the distinctive slanted air vents.
The dash, like the centre console and door panels, is split into two distinct zones with different trim – which in this case has been optioned with plenty of carbon and nero alcantara.
Apple Car Play, Nav and Bluetooth all feature to contribute to ease of use and day to day connectivity.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Described as a giant leap forward for turbocharged engines in terms of efficiency, performance and flexibility – the F154 V8 is nothing short of an engineering marvel. Winner of the 2016 Engine Expo in Stuttgart, the formidable powerplant won Performance Engine, New Engine, 3. 0-litre to 4. 0-litre category and overall main prize.
Always ready to deliver on a wave of boost it has been noted that there is next to no lag and allied with Ferrari’s epic 7 Speed Getrag ‘box it makes for seamless and fast gear changes.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 20” wheels, made using highly advanced forging tech, offer maximum lightness and help to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle by around 7 kg. Unmarked they are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero rubber displaying plenty of tread depth.
