Summary
Veranti was the design brainchild of John Barlow of Barlow Coachworks, a prominent designer with a long history of designing and building specialist cars such as the Royale range. Having produced a ‘vintage’ range he wanted to design a modern sporty variant based on a robust, reliable and affordable sporty drivers car; cue the small but mighty Toyota MR2 Mk2.
They went on to build circa 60 Veranti Spyder’s in their Wigan factory, based on an MR2 SW20 saloon body, and there’s a good reason these rarely come to market; owners don’t part with them easily.
Great looking & well put together cars with enough ‘go’ to have a lot of fun and handling designed to keep you on the black stuff.
This car was converted in 1994 by the Veranti factory from a 1991 car and is correctly and legally registered as a Veranti Convertible on the V5.
Exterior (please refer to photos)
The wrap isn’t perfect, but is serviceable and presentable.
There is signs of wear on the paint around mirrors.
The roof has been recently proofed but would benefit from some tidying on the inside.
Wheels are in excellent condition & its riding on nearly new, and expensive, Pirellis.
There is spare set of original ‘Cage’ type wheels with cheaper older tyres.
Panel fit is fine, with the body kit being fitted at factory.
There is no evidence of rust and corrosion.

Bluetooth stereo in good working order.
Reverse parking sensors.
Dash is in good condition but ash tray is cracked (sun damage).
Seats are in excellent condition and trimmed to match the body.
Carpets are in excellent condition.
Headlining – as roof above.
All switches work with no known faults.
Mechanical
Mechanically it is superb, polybushed and handling extremely well; fitted with a new quick shift gear shift and without power steering it’s a real drivers car.
Recent works:
New clutch.
Cambelt kit.
Cooling pipes (including the impossible to get at ones).
Major service - including oils, filters, coolant (flush) with all works carried out by Mr2 Ben.
New Pirellis all round on the 5 spoke alloys (set of spare 'cage' alloys with old tyres available)
Quick shift.
MOT’d in September 2024 with no advisories, the vendor is happy to put it through an MOT for the new owner.
History, File & Paperwork
The car has an extensive file including build pictures, receipts for ongoing maintenance work including the last major engine out service.
It is correctly registered with the DVLA as a Veranti Convertible on the V5.
