Shortly after the end of WWII, with individual mobility becoming important, Piaggio launched the Vespa and Innocenti their Lambretta range of scooters
Isothermos s. p. a., heater and refrigerator maker, was not long in following and started developing a scooter, called the Furetto, however, it was not a success being replaced in 1949 by a new project, the Iso 125, commonly known as the Isoscooter
It was powered by a split single-cylinder, 125cc engine inspired by Puch, that produced 7bhp, a higher power output than its rivals
A 'naked' version was also offered, without a fairing, and named the Isomoto
In 1952, the company name changed into Iso Autoveicoli s. p. a. for the imminent launch of the new Isetta microcar
In 1957, the production of motorcycles and microcars stopped to focus on the, soon to be iconic, Iso Rivolta brand of long-legged GT cars
