DESCRIPTION
The Series 1 Escort RS Turbo was carefully developed by Ford’s talented Special Vehicle Engineering team, Built at Fords Saarlouis plant in Germany
The RS Turbo was designed to set new standards in Group N and Group A events, and was quickly dubbed the car to beat. Ford planned to build 5, 000 RS Turbos, the minimum number required for homologation in Group A,
The car was greeted with enthusiasm and was only sold through official Rallye Sport dealers.
EXTERNAL
Quite simply a stunning Series 1 Rs Turbo In original condition, Having Ford Diamond White paintwork (Code B3) Panels front to rear present glossy, bright and look amazing beaming a deep shine throughout
All panels are pin straight front to rear along with the extroverted body styling and large spoilerst which present chip and damage free. Having Ford colour coded bumpers front and rear along with factory black over-riders
The unmistaken Rs aerodynamic spoilers standing large and proud along with its legendary Rs decals and unmistaken front bumper mounted Ford spotlights, Driver and passenger side colour coded door mirrors along with the unmistaken colour coded ‘Orion’ front grille complement this special example
Special because this is a non-custom model and does not have the manual wind sunroof
INTERNAL
Open the drivers or passenger side door on this RS Turbo and originality shouts out at you. Finished in original two-tone grey Monza crushed velour (Code HC) the seat pads and figure-hugging bolsters are very firm and in excellent unmarked condition
The same can be said for the rear seats which look like they have never been sat on!
The door cards front and rear are in original unmarked condition presenting beautifully with the same to be said for the thick pile grey carpet which shows no wear
The original black perforated headlining sits taught and mark free along with original switchgear, The dashboard presents very well being crack and fade free
The correct Ford SRT32P stereo's fitted from factory as an optional extra at a cost of £142. 90(inc vat),
The RS 4 spoke steering wheel, cigar lighter, rear ashtrays, front door stowage bins, 3-speed heater fan, coin box, radio cassette, speaker joystick control, trip recorder, tachometer, roof mounted digital clock are all original and perform as Ford intended
This being a rare non-custom example has manual wind up windows which perform without fault
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Engine bay area has recently undertaken a full 'detailing' ensuring it remains pristine clean, This echos the fastidious attention to detail this example oozes along with ensuring originality has been preserved at all times
Fords 1596cc turbocharged Compound Valve Hemispherical chamber (CVH) unit, producing 132 BHP at 6000 rpm, is mated to the Bosch KE Jetronic Fuel Injection System
Turbocharged power delivery courtesy of a Garrett T03 turbo, the car accelerates smoothly to a maximum speed of 125 mph and achieves 0-60 in 8. 2 seconds. A slightly larger bore exhaust is fitted that sounds glorious
Power deliverys crisp and precise throughout the rev range, Gear change is positive throughout the 5 speed gearbox, Simply a pleasure to drive be it in town or out in the countryside whatever you decide it will be with a smile.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Having original 15" RS seven spoke alloy wheels in immaculate condition&
Matching Yokohama 195/ 50/ R15 tyres in modern fitment with plenty of tread. Diagonally split hydraulic assisted circuit brakes with 240mm ventilated discs up front and 203. 2mm rear drums bring the car to a steady controlled halt.
