1966 MG Midget in very good all-round condition with a very solid underside, running and driving spot on, we sold this car 18 months ago and the owner is moving to a no garage home so it had to go, he’s had lots of fun with the car on days out with his son, we had two similar cars on offer back then and this was the better driving car of the two, it’s very enjoyable. It’s a really good looker, the hood on these early models stores completely out the way, leaving really smooth sporty lines and it also has the tonneau cover as well for the super sporty racetrack look.
It starts very easily and runs really, really well, pulling strongly through all the gears, it stops well, see the video and is steady at speed with no wandering or vagueness of any kind the steering wheel is rock steady and if you press the “go” pedal hard it’s quick at getting up to the speed limit, we have checked the fluids for correct level and contamination and there's no breathing from the oil cap when running, see the video. The odometer is showing 99867 miles but they are unconfirmed.
The interior is complemented by blue piped seats, original period steering wheel and very unmolested dashboard, seat belts fitted, very tidy carpet set with proper Midget over mats, it’s a sung place to get comfy for some motoring adventures.
Both doors, boot and bonnet open, click shut and lock, the side lights, head lights and horn, wiper, washers, all work. The hood is free from any rips, splits or damage, the windows are very clear with no cracks, the hood frame is in very good order.
The paintwork is presentable, there are a few tiny imperfection that will be found on very close inspection. Bright work is all ok, not new and slightly aged with some pitting, comes with matching wire spare wheel. It’s completely solid underneath, the sill’s, floor pans, jacking points, chassis legs are solid, we have had it 6ft in the air, see the pics and the video for a full underside tour, any inspection welcome.
We have two sets of keys, a history files containing lot’s invoices, old logbooks and old MOTS, its HPI clear with and the car is TAX and MOT exempt but we have still put a fresh Mot on it with no advisories which is valid until January 2026. We have the full current logbook in our name. All the tyres are in very good order with no slows or leaks, they are a matching set on the desirable “knock on” wire spoke wheels.
The dash gauges are typically MG with false, none and intermittent readings, drivers side indicator can be fiddly, the boot badge has now been replaced so no longer missing it's "M", we’d recommend an oil change new filters and general service.
Draw out of your boring ISA, get out the picnic hamper and go and enjoy your hard earned savings, you still have a car to sell if you want to cash in later and you will be making memories instead of a pittance of interest.
There are loads of Midgets to pick from, you simply will not find another this well demonstrated, with everything shown to you before you leave the house, nothing hidden and nothing to hide.
