Description

Jaguar e-type S3 convertible V12 5. 3-litre prime rose yellow with black hood and black interior automatic , get in and drive , very nice jaguar for a very friendly price currently on French registrationGood reasonsDesigned by the legendary Malcolm SayerCombination of long wheelbase and high thin tyres3. 8, 4. 2 or 5. 3 litres under the bonnetImportant dataEnginesIn the three generations of the E-type, three different engines were used, not necessarily similar to the Series. First used was the XK I6 with its 3. 8 litre, borrowed from the XK150 and Mark II. At 3, 781cc, this block, mated to a four-speed manual transmission, brought 265 hp to the rear wheels. In 1964, the XK I6 evolved to 4. 2 litres, which boosted its top speed to 241 km/ h, a serious achievement at the time. Only from 1966 could the 22 be supplied with an automatic gearbox. The final series, Series 3, would feature a brand new 5. 3-litre V12 block. DimensionsThe Series 1 weighed between 1, 256 and 1, 402 kg depending on the body style. The 22 had a 9-inch longer wheelbase, which took the 2, 438mm of the FHC and OTS to 2, 667mm. The length also varied 9 inches, 4, 453mm to 4, 685mm and 1, 657mm wide. The height also varied between 1, 181mm and 1, 273mm to make the lines of the car look nice. The Series 1 12 and 2 hardly differed. The Series 3, on the other hand, with its big V12, suddenly weighed 1, 525 and 1, 533kg respectively 22 and OTS. The wheelbase of the OTS and 22 no longer differed and remained at 2, 667mm. The Series 3 gained only 20mm in width, but ended up slightly lower around 1, 676mm. VariantsNot too long after the launch of the E-type, Jaguar started thinking of ways to improve the model. From 1969 to 1971, the Series 2, the second generation of the model, was built. This received headlights without glass covers, a modified rear bumper, taillights that came under it, a larger radiator grille and improved brakes. The interior was also modified with new control levers, air conditioning as an option, power steering and more comfortable seats. The Series 3, the last version to be developed, was built from 1971 to 1974 and got the new 5. 3l under the bonnet, improved brakes and power steering as standard. You can recognise a Series 3 by the V12 badge on the boot, a different radiator grille and rimmed wheel arches. PricesIn recent years, the prices of the E-types kept going up. A Series 1 falls somewhere between 100, 000 and 200, 000 in terms of price. A Series 2 was built in larger numbers and is therefore cheaper, to be found between 60, 000 and 80, 000. A Series 3 will cost you between 60, 000 and 120, 000. DesignExteriorThe aerodynamic study that went into the E-type's design extensively shows in its beautiful lines. The wire wheels add style, both in chrome and black. The window sections make the car very bright on the inside. InteriorThe interior of the E-type is as luxurious as its looks, the beautiful aluminium with wood finished steering wheel, dashboard buttons and map reading light missing from other autos. The seats sit well, and are of high quality. Possible transport possibilities within Europe, both open and closed transport.
