An original Mini needs no introduction, An icon spanning back numerous decades, Having provided transport for families all over the world, From being a private family vehicle to winning many rallies the Mini has and always will be special, First launched in 1959 by the Morris Minor designer 'Alec Issigonis' the Mini was the first car to combine a transverse front engine and front-wheel drive into such a tiny space
EXTERNAL
A true 1960's icon which has stood the test of time, All panels sitting true with a deep glossy shine throughout, Finished in traditional Austin Light Grey Paintwork
Chrome work front to rear crisp and bright with the classic chrome bumpers fitted front and rear with over riders, Front slatted chrome grill sparkling with the Austin coach of arms badge
Single chrome twist door handles sit on both drivers and passengers side doors. Front drivers and passengers doors also have the rally theme slide open guise windows which operate without fault along with Pull/ Snap hinged rear windows which operate impeccably
Chrome work and rubbers around all window areas presents fresh and fade free. With a single chrome petrol filler cap located to the passenger side rear
Upon twisting the chrome handle fitted to the boot lid upon opening you instantly see the single fuel tank to the left and the originality preserved throughout
All lights front and rear present in the very best of condition crack and fade free and of course genuine ensuring originality has been maintained throughout
Badging sitting correct beaming with brashness and boldness.
INTERNAL
Originality very often can be used to easily however in this instance upon opening the drivers or passenger side doors you instantly become aware the seating front and rear remains original, Boasting a light speckled seat base with a blue leather finished frontal quarter panel along with cream piping to the edges, Both front and rear seats in original untouched condition you simply do not come across this often
With matching inner door cards front and rear along with the cursery mini esk pocket bins
Speckled affect colour coded leather door ajar strap attached to the ‘A’ pillar on both front doors respectively
Original Cream ripple honeycomb affect headlining sits beautifully along with the drivers and passengers sun visors
Basic can only be used to sum up the interior but adequate and clutter free donning a white faced speedometer with black dials with further houses the fuel gauge, ignition warning light and main beam indicators, To the sides on the speedo housing a toggle switch can be found which when pressed reveals your interior light.. Very Retro!
All coursery warning lights extinguish accordingly along with various toggle switches which control the wipers and headlamps, With being a very early model this has the push button main beam switch to the left of the clutch pedal floor mounted, Also floor mounted the 'push button starter switch'
Pull out manual choke lever works as intended
The original black 2-spoke steering wheel remains along with the Austin centre badge
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Under the bonnet lies the legendary and original 848cc transversely mounted 4 cylinder petrol engine producing 34-bhp mounted to a 4 speed manual gearbox, Having stood the test of time and covered very little miles the engine runs sweet, Drives as you would expect a sixty year old car to drive however this one has been lovingly maintained by father and son for fifty years of it's life ensuring it has many more miles under its belt
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Fitted with the original 10" steel wheels in cream along with sparkling centre chrome shine wheel hub caps, Shod with 145/ 10 tyres boasting ample tread all round, Original factory specification drum brakes to the front and rear
HISTORY FILE
Take nothing away a car still on the road sixty years from when it was first manufactured simply is rare, This example has had only two former keepers since first being registered on the 1st August 1960 by Austin dealer 'Naylor & Root LTD', The last owner being father and son who between them cherished the vehicle for some fifty years.. WOW!
With the original 'Austin Seven Drivers Handbook' present and a ' 1st Birthday Greetings' card from the supplying Austin dealership, Also present an original folder bound Austin Seven workshop manual,
Old mot certificate back from 1996 displaying 39731-miles which clearly indicates the vehicles covered very few miles over nearly the next last thirty years
