1979 Ford Escort 1600 Sport. RHD Import from South Africa with all tax and duty paid. NOVA declaration done and UK reg has been applied for. Good looking car which starts runs and drives. Needs finishing off.
Body - Export spec 1600 Sport shell with similar strengthening to our RS models. Body is nice and straight. Good arches, doors, inner wings, sills. pillars. We have had the magnet all round it and no signs of filler in doors, lower quarters sills etc. Paintwork is very tidy. Its not a show winner but very presentable. Spoiler is good bumpers still have the over riders fitted on the front. Underneath it appears to have had repairs on outer floors where it meets the sills and the rear boot wells. It all looks solid enough and are visible. Centre floors and chassis rails are solid . Few dents on rails from jacking up. Had a repair on n/ s inner wing where bumper bolts on.
Mechanics - Car starts and runs. Will need a good checkover and service and carb adjusted due to the different climate. the choke will also need looking at. Brakes clutch and gearbox all appear ok but as with any old car its worth giving it a good checkover before sending it full tilt down the B roads. New rack fitted , new track control arms, poly bushed on front,
Interior - New dash top fitted. Seats are black sport seats. Driver side needs a repair on the frame and they would be useable with a good scrub up. Door cards are ok with no speaker holes but not mint.
Wheels - Rs Alloys which have been powdercoated rather than polished. New wheel nuts fitted. Tyres are all good.
