1999 Mercedes Benz SL500 finished in brilliant silver over orion grey leather. A car we purchased directly from the last owner of 21 years, who during his tenure had always kept the car garaged and had it regularly serviced and maintained at a highly regarded Mercedes Benz Specialist.
Contained within the history file is the original hand & service books together with a raft of invoices including the purchase invoice from when the last owner purchased the car from Bentley main dealers Straight Eight in June 2004, at which time the car had covered 24, 000 miles.
Being a later “face lift” model, the car it is fitted with a host of upgrades from earlier iterations, the most notable of these being the fitment of a 5 speed automatic gearbox which replaced the original 4 speed unit. This makes the car far more responsive to drive whilst benefiting fuel consumption.
The super smooth 4973cc M113 5. 0 V8 powerhouse produces a shade over 300 bhp and 339ft lbs of torque giving excellent performance with a 0-60 time of just 6. 5 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, but it’s the way the performance is delivered which makes this car such a joy to drive. It very much an iron fist in a velvet glove.
The interior is a lovely place in which to spend time, with super comfortable nappa leather, electrically adjustable and heated seats, climate control and the highly desirable removable panoramic hard top all present.
