We are delighted to present for sale this 1983 Land Rover® Series 3, finished in the Marine Blue colour scheme with Limestone Wheels & Roof.
Externally, this has all the features one would hope to see on a late Series 3 – standard reflective plates, bonnet mounted spare tyre, rear grab handles, front number plate valance, original door mounted mirrors for extra visibility whilst driving, safari type roof with sliding rear windows, etc etc.
On the inside, there are three front deluxe seats fitted, along with deluxe matting to the footwells. Door cards add an extra premium feel, as does the headliner. It is nice to note that the drivers and passengers seats are also adjustable for those taller drivers and passengers – not something we often see. The rear houses individual tip up seats for 4 people in (relative!) comfort for a Series Land Rover®… this means seating for seven people including the driver, and every seat – even the middle front – has a seat belt too – so everyone can be carried as safely as possible. The rear windows slide open – lovely for summer days when one wants air flow. It is also handy for the driver too, with better visibility, whilst also creating a light and airy cabin which feels pleasing to be in. Interior lighting is quite unusual, but it is pleasing to see there is an original, glass interior light which works just as it should off the correct toggle switch on the dash – one position down for dash lights (which work) and second position down for that very handy light.
Out on the road this Station Wagon Configuration Series 3 excels – the deluxe trim assists with noise deadening….. the overdrive (an expensive option) affords relaxed motoring and the fitted tyres give a pleasing light feel to the steering wheel. Due to the benefits of a recently fitted new ignition system, there is a smooth and reassuring feel to the driving experience, and those passenger windows give a light and airy road presence.
In summary, if you are looking for a period Series 3 that looks the part and can transport the whole family around in belted comfort, then this Series 3 is certainly worth considering. With the added benefit of the un-burstable petrol engine and desirable overdrive, it should also be rewarding to own and to drive.
