Description

For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 3 Ragtop in Keswick Green (1983).

Petrol 2286cc. MOT & Tax Exempt. 750 Tyres with Bonnet Mounted Spare. Rear Mudflaps. Height Adjustable Tow Bar with Electrics. Recent Canvas. Rear Bench Seats – 7 Seater. Weber Carburettor. Free Wheeling Hubs.

We are delighted to present for sale this 1983 Land Rover® Series 3, finished in Keswick Green with Limestone Wheels and Sand Canvas. It is uncommon for us to see Series 3s in this colour combination – and thanks to the format of this one, it can also carry the whole family.

Externally, as the photos show, this is a very good looking Classic Land Rover® – 750 tyres, recent canvas, bonnet mounted spare, free wheeling hubs, rear grab handles, door mounted mirrors – the list goes on, and those with a discerning eye will notice the modern upgrades to make things easier – such as the height adjustable tow bar with electrics, which is handy for towing and the cross-climate tyre set up to give superior road holding whilst filling the arches nicely and giving a positive stance.

It is much the same story on the inside with three front standard seats (with outer front seat belts), along with deluxe matting to the footwells. The rear houses twin bench seats (seat belts can be fitted if so desired) to bring seating to seven including the driver and a load mat is fitted to the floor area to protect against damage – a set of chain covers are fitted to the rear tailgate to prevent the chains rattling around whilst out driving, which is a nice touch. It is a very standard affair in here and that is exactly what we like to see – able of carrying the whole family or folding the bench seats away to reveal the full load area – ideal for carrying a dog, the bikes, logs, coal, hay or just about anything one can think of – even down to a surfboard or picnic basket.

Out on the road, this delivers a pleasing period drive which is further enhanced by a Weber Carburettor for increased power over standard, and free wheeling hubs to reduce axle wear and improve fuel economy. Those larger tyres give superior gearing meaning a more relaxed cruise and an easier time when out on the road, whilst not compromising off-road ability (incidentally rhe springs on this one are lovely and compliant giving a nice feel over the speed bumps), should it be needed. We really enjoy a Series 3 like this – bringing us back to what truly makes the marque so iconic… roll the canvas sides and back up, fire her up and bang the sunshades on thanks to the longer evenings and squeeze in a pint at the local after work – or an ice cream down by the river before the sun drops too low……and when it does, the heater does a better job than you’d imagine.

In summary, if you are looking for a Series 3 which can carry the whole family in vintage cool, then this could be for you. With the added bonus’ of MOT & Tax Exemption and Classic Insurance – it also shouldn’t cost the earth to run in the longer term whilst being a solid investment for the future if you keep it nice!
