Description
In 1996, after more than 20 years, the XJ-S was replaced by the XK as Jaguar's flagship model. The sports coupé was equipped with the new aluminium 4. 0 litre V8, internal designation AJ-26. The top version, the XKR, was fitted with an Eaton supercharger as a respiratory aid. This provided around 80 additional horsepower. There were some improvements for the 2003 model year. The engine was revised and enlarged to 4. 2 litres. This ensured smoother running and more power. With the newer AJ-34, the widespread chain tensioner problem is also no longer an issue. A better ZF automatic gearbox with 6 instead of 5 gears was also used for power transmission. Larger brakes were also added to the latest evolutionary stage. The late XKs with the 4. 2 litre engine are considered to be very mature and are also extremely sought-after due to their low production number
This XKR is one of the last in production and was newly delivered by Emil Frey AG in Safenwil. The car has remained in Zurich to this day. The delivery documents, including the updated service booklet, are available and all servicing was carried out by Jaguar specialists. The 4. 2 litre supercharged V8 delivers a brute 400 hp and the 6-speed automatic gearbox shifts absolutely perfectly. The rare 2-tone leather interior is rounded off by ash grey burl wood. The outer skin is painted in elegant anthracite metallic. Despite being 20 years old, the Jaguar fulfils most of the standards of much newer luxury cars. Air conditioning, heated seats, rain sensor, xenon headlights and an adaptive sports suspension are just a few examples of the long list of features. Optional extras for this vehicle at the time included 20-inch BBS rims, perforated Brembo brakes and parking sensors. The track was subtly widened for additional aggressiveness. The spacer discs are registered in the licence. A timeless, classic yet modern and fast sports car that retains its value. The last and best XK of the X100 series. The Jaguar is being sold fresh from MFK and service.
