Introduced at the 1992 Motor Show, the Chimaera was intended to be a more practical, user-friendly machine than the formidable Griffith. To this end, it sported a proper boot and a more cosseting interior. Power came from a variety of Rover V8-derived units, though, even the entry-level 4. 0 litre was quoted as developing 240bhp/ 270lbft. The slowest of the range, it was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 4. 7 seconds, 0-100mph in 12. 1 seconds and 152mph! Luckily all Chimaeras came with four-wheel disc brakes and a Quaife differential as standard. A 4. 5-litre model was added to the line-up in 1997, with the Chimaera 450 said to offer 285bhp and 0-60mph in 4. 7 seconds.
Manufactured in the year 2000, this desirable 450-engined Chimaera was purchased new via Hillfoot TVR in Sheffield on the 5th of April that year and was finished from new in the rare colour scheme of Crystal Verdi paintwork with Fern Green leather interior upholstery, Green carpets, and a Racing Green hood. Purchased into current ownership in 2014 when the Chimaera had covered just 32, 500 miles, the vendor has used the TVR as intended, adding some 23, 500 miles to the odometer, meaning ‘V910 HHL’ is offered now having covered a modest c. 56, 000 miles from new.
Offered with the original combined owner’s handbook and stamped service book, the service book displays eleven service stamps (plus the PDI inspection) with all of these completed by TVR main agents or specialists. Most recently serviced at 52, 797 miles in 2022 by TVR specialists Technical Vehicle Repairs & Servicing (South West) Ltd., the Chimaera is further accompanied by a history file with a current V5C document. A desirable 450 model in a striking and rare colour scheme, this is not one to miss for TVR fans!
