If you like your BMWs a bit different, this stunning BMW R60/ 2 certainly ticks that box: with its massive Hoske ‘Rennsporttank’ holding some 35 Liters, the R60/ 2 is guaranteed to turn heads with its angular and purposeful look.
The BMW R60/ 2 ‘Hoske’ is an older restoration that remains in very good condition. Triple matching numbers for frame and engine and original Bing carburetors correctly numbered in sequence.
The engine was recently checked over in the hands of the capable last owner and the BMW runs silently and smoothly as well as being an easy starter. All gears engage easily and the brakes are very effective indeed. All petrol pipes and rubber items were replaced as part of the check over.
There are some small marks to the paint on the rear mudguard, and one small spot on the petrol tank, otherwise the paint including the hand brushed white pinstripes are in perfect order.
The extra-large capacity petrol tank, ‘Rennsporttank’, was made to special order by Hoske, the small aftermarket company specializing in BMWs. The founder Ernst Hoske was an ex-racer that saw a gap in the market and turned his passion for racing and ‘go faster goodies’ into a respected business. I doubt you will find a 1960s BMW petrol tank with a bigger capacity.
All in all, this is a superb example of the BMW R60/ 2 with the attractive addition of the Hoske ‘Rennsporttank’.
