Amazing detail
Here we have one of the nicest Austin Minis we have seen in a long time. This Mini was registered new to its first owner on 7/ 9/ 1961, a Miss Grace Tosbell of Colchester, by Maldon Road Garage of Colchester. She kept the Mini until 28/ 12/ 1978 when it became the property of a Mr Bernard Pepper who kept the car until 15/ 6/ 2022. So, this Mini has only ever had 3 owners in all its life - 64 years in total, wow! We are delighted to have all the V5s detailing this information and, most importantly, the original service book complete with stamps and details of its early servicing. This is accompanied by its original owner’s manual and advertising brochures - amazing it still survives and even better that it comes with the Mini. It even comes with a parts list and brochure.
The Mini is finished in a lovely shade of what you may call duck egg blue with blue trim finished with white piping, all in stunning condition. Even under the bonnet and the boot area are in stunning condition. A rather nice little feature is that it has a St. Christopher mounted on the dashboard - you have to be of a certain age to know what these were all about, but nearly every car from the 60s / 70s had one fitted by the owner. There is a nice collection of paperwork showing bits and pieces done to it over the years, the best being a selection from a company called R. M. Restorations in Colchester for the grand sum of £10, 590, which is a lot of money, especially as it is dated in 1997. The car is still in perfect condition, and there are some pictures showing some of the work done.
The vendor has kindly provided the following information:
“It doesn’t get much more iconic than the classic Mini!
Completely restored in 1997 by RM Restorations in Essex, this beautiful 1961 Austin Mini 850 has been adored and cherished for the majority of its life. Finished in a shade of light blue, with a contrasting dark blue interior, our Austin Mini 850 is a beautiful example of a Mk1 with only a few changes from its original specification (such as arches and the very rare period 100+ wheels).
Powered by an 850cc 4-cylinder engine and paired to a 4-speed manual gearbox (with floor mounted starter), this bite sized classic is completely ready to hit the road for any adventure your heart desires.
Arriving to market due to bereavement this lovely car has been fully recommissioned by Bridge Classic Cars recently, including:
Carry out full service
Remove fuel tank and clean
Full carb overhaul
Full coolant flush and refill with antifreeze
Full brake overhaul with new cylinders and fluid flush
New set of tyres
New clutch slave cylinder flexible hose
Reseal exhaust manifold to downpipe clamp
Fit interior release door cable”
As you can see, this amazing Mini has wanted for nothing which is evident upon viewing and something you must do if you are looking for one of the best Minis on the market at this time. Whether you want an addition to your collection or you want to own an amazing car, this is definitely the one for you. Don’t take our word for it, come and have a look for yourself!
