The R107/ C107 SL-Class, the successor to the classic “Pagoda” W113 SL, proved so popular the company produced it from 1971 to 1989, one of Mercedes-Benz’s longest-running single series. Rather than attempt to meet the race-bred performance and looks of the original 300 SL, Mercedes focused more on a grand touring, “personal luxury car” feel for their new SL.
