1972 Suffix A. Produced in the first year of production 1972, so considered one of the first ever Range Rovers. 2 owners from new, current keeper has been on since 1975. Car originally left factory in Maasai Red as was prevalent in this era the car had a colour change to the period correct colour you see today, known as Tobacco Leaf. The roof is believed to have been fitted at the same time in 1975. The car has been garaged for it's whole life and the story goes that it has spent no longer than one week out of the garage since 1975, a story which it's current amazing vintage condition is owed to. in the mid 80's it had a five speed gearbox fitted, the owner decided to supercede the original four speed gearbox. Very little in the way of cosmetic or repair work has been done since. the interior is more or less original, the driver and passenger seat bases have been changed but that's it. The Palomino injection molded interior is mostly original with obvious signs of wear and tear.
Comprehensive underside reconditioning done recently. But otherwise in very good UN-restored condition. Car shows signs of the Maasai red paint in several areas of the car; engine bay, door shuts, boot and where any small chips are present. The respray was done in 1975 to 1975 standards. In my opinion I would not do any work to the car in such an original state.
Car comes with complete original tool kit, spare wheel sheath and original rubber boot floor mat (apparently £1000 on ebay according to a Landrover specialist). Car comes with a flight case of service paperwork all the way from 1972 to date, plenty for eagle eyed collectors to leaf through. All original manuals, plus workshop manuals and a flight case full of new stock packaged spare parts collected by the current keeper over the decades to go with the car. Original fuel filler cap. Folding rear number plates.
