It was equipped with a powerful 4. 7 V8 90° four-cam engine that produced an impressive 335 horsepower. This engine, which powered the legendary Maserati 450s racing cars, was later upgraded to 4. 9 litres for the 'SS' version. With a staggering top speed of 275 km/ h (!), the Ghibli was no match for its Italian rival, the Ferrari 365GTB Daytona. The Ghibli was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, for the famous Ghia design house. He succeeded in creating a perfectly balanced and timeless design, making the Ghibli one of the most stunning cars of all time. The interplay of pure elegance and raw strength makes this Ghibli, named after the wind of the Sahara desert, a genuine Italian GT car of unprecedented allure. This superb 1970 example underwent a complete and documented restoration in 1988-1989, after which its last owner enjoyed it to the full for several years before carefully storing it away in 1993. When we rediscovered this superb Ghibli in its hiding place, with the exception of a fresh coat of paint, this Maserati proved to be in perfect original condition: from the engine and suspension to the carpets and spare wheel.
