Following the release of the W111-generation 220 Sedan in 1959, Mercedes-Benz announced the production of the coupe and cabriolet models. Such was the incredible quality and timeless design, the W111 (and its similar-looking successor, the W108/ W109) were produced for over a decade. Numerous engine choices, each more sophisticated and powerful than the last, ensured buyers of the high-end, largely hand-constructed model enjoyed impressive drivability and comfort. Naturally, critics and enthusiasts headed praise on the car in its day and continue to do so today.

In comparison to the sedan's more austere standard features, US-market coupes and cabriolets received nearly every conceivable amenity as standard. With engines producing plenty of torque at low RPM, automatic transmissions, a fully independent suspension, four wheel disc brakes, and a full leather interior, few cars could match the W111's mixture of effortless performance and immense luxury. Cabriolets received a fully lined top constructed in the traditional German stacked layout, allowing the car to be driven in essentially any weather conditions in comfort. Due to their complexity, the company completed only thirteen cars per week - the aforementioned cabriolet tops, for example, required roughly sixteen hours of work apiece. In total, Mercedes-Benz produced just 1, 232 examples between 1969 and 1971. Today, W111 coupes and cabriolets are fabulous investment picks as they pair a remarkably modern driving experience with timeless style.

The fantastic 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SE Cabriolet featured here is finished in stunning White-Grey over a Dark Red leather interior with a Black folding convertible top. This exquisite motorcar has been restored to very high level and is among one of the nicest examples we've offered in years. This superlative 280 SE represents an incredible opportunity for the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast to acquire one of the last of the hand-built Mercedes-Benzes at an investment price!
