Description
We are delighted to offer for sale this time-warp Lancia Lambda Torpedo 2nd Series restoration/ reassembly project.
The car was purchased in a completely dismantled state by the previous owner over 70 years ago. He and his son intended to rebuild the car together but as is all too common, life got in the way and the project took a back seat as other demands took priority.
On inspection, it is evident that this Lambda is a matching numbers example and that the parts are from one car.
The Lambda retains its original Barcelona registration document issued on the 22nd July 1931. The document shows chassis number 11180 was registered with the number B – 14517 and that the engine number was 1198, the number of the original engine still with the car today. A real rarity as most Lambdas have lost their original engines over the years.
The earliest owner listed on the registration document is a Mr. Jose Picanol of Sabadell, Barcelona. Mr. Juan Tubert Pujol, a resident of Pinell in the province of Lerida, purchased the car in 1939. A 1949 petrol ration card, complete with corresponding stamps is in the name of Juan Tubert Pujol.
In 1950 the Lambda was acquired by Mr. Ramon Bernaus of Torregasa, Lerida – an original Barcelona chassis plate complete with lead seal in his name is with the car.
As the car was stripped down relatively early in its life it is consequently exceptionally original. The original engine (number 1198) is complete and includes magneto, dynamo and correct wooden fan and fan pully.
The three-speed gearbox and front and rear axles are complete and original. The suspension is present along with the rear springs as are six wheels, the brake system and prop-shaft.
Body components present include the skeletal frame, chassis crossmembers, floor panels, scuttle, transmission tunnel, aluminium bonnet, bootlid, one front wing, one rear wing, radiator (with correct German silver surround), windscreen assembly, all four doors with upholstered door cards, seat pans, dashboard, dashboard dials, headlights, running boards and running board irons.
In addition the Lambda retains its original Barcelona front and rear number plates and a toolbox with tools.
This is truly a unique opportunity to acquire a continuous history and extremely original Lancia Lambda Torpedo 2nd Series in component form.
