‘DIL2219’ is offered here from a period of long term ownership and in an unusual and attractive livery. The current owner has enjoyed the particular charms of ‘DIL2219’ for over 19 years. With less than 98, 000 miles covered to date this represents less than 2, 000 miles per year on average. Likewise, ‘DIL2219’ has covered this moderate mileage at the hands of just seven keepers to date. With less than 8, 000 miles covered since 2006 it is fair to say that ‘DIL2219’ has been carefully stewarded and sympathetically used. ‘DIL2219’ is registered as an Historic Vehicle and so is MOT exempt and zero rated for vehicle excise duty. ‘DIL2219’ is offered complete with an extensive paperwork archive detailing the extensive care and maintenance it has enjoyed throughout its history.
‘DIL2219’ presents in a less common Oxford Blue livery. With ‘DIL2219’ representing an example of the first generation Silver Shadow it exhibits all the sublime design cues penned by designer John Blatchley. Compared to its Silver Cloud predecessor, the Shadow was a vastly more modern design and, as such, enthusiastically received at launch in 1965. ‘DIL2219’ is awash with Silver Shadow signatures including, of course, the deeply chromed Palladian grill and Spirit of Ecstasy. A badge bar with original enamel badges is also fitted. The steel wheels are disguised by the customary chromed and body coloured wheel trims. Where later cars carry a painted coach line, the Silver Shadow exhibits a full length chromed rubbing strip. The interior of ‘DIL2219’ is awash with perfectly patinaed supple Connelly leather, again in a rarely seen deep blue hue. Carpets, door trims and walnuts veneers all look very well preserved for a 50 year old plus car.
‘DIL2219’ utilises the venerable 6750cc V8 L-series engine mated to the smooth shifting three speed GM 400 automatic gearbox. Nothing as vulgar as power outputs were published at the time but this combination is rightly focused on refinement and “whaftability” rather than speed and performance. The long term owner rates all aspects of ‘DIL2219’s’ condition as “good.” Likely to offer outstanding value, ‘DIL2219’ represents a chance to own a very presentable example of the rapidly appreciating Silver Shadow.
In summary:
· A delightful Silver Shadow in a rarer and highly desirable livery
· Offered from over 19 years of enthusiastic ownership
· Complete with a bulging paperwork file documenting history throughout its life
