This Yamaha YZF-R6 is a relatively early-series 2001 model, finished in iconic blue, white and silver livery. The Supersports machine is described as having '’good' bodywork and paintwork, and ‘excellent’ engine, transmission and electrics. “Mechanically, the bike is spot-on,” says the vendor. They have owned it for two years and, in that time, have repainted the mudguards to enhance its appearance. “There are just a few small marks on the fuel tank, but overall it is in nice condition.” They add that the odometer reads 19, 000 miles; the HPI report shows 4, 000 miles missing from its history, “believed to be from an incorrect mileage reading from the MOT station”. This R6, they add, is an official UK-registered machine, and is not an import.
The Yamaha YZF-R6 is a 600cc sports bike that was introduced in 1999. It is the smaller supersports sister bike to the mighty Yamaha R1 and, at launch, was the world’s first 600cc bike producing more than 100hp. Long dominant in supersport motorcycle racing, its racetrack credentials have made it a desirable road-going machine too, offering a thrilling ride with ultra-nimble handling and a spirited high-revving engine. From launch, it instantly became the go-to 600 and remains a fantastically entertaining ride today.
