Penned by Geoff Lawson and stylistically indebted to its XJ6 (X300) predecessor, the XJ8 (X308) was launched in 1997. Powered by a new generation of 3. 2 or 4. 0 litre AJ-V8 engines, The X308 would soon see an XJR deritavite, powered by a supercharged version of Jaguar’s 4. 0-litre AJ-V8 engine which, with an output of 370bhp, was capable of powering the luxury saloon to 60mph from a standstill in 5. 6 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph.
