Description
Motodrome are pleased to offer this lovely example of one of our favourite 1970’s luxury cars – a Jaguar XJ6 Series 1 4. 2 Manual, finished in Regency Red with full tan leather and walnut trim, and with a full-length Webasto sunroof.
These first iterations of the XJ6, whether Jaguar or Daimler badged, have a timeless elegance that became slightly diluted with the Series 2 and 3 models. Invariably the first generation of a well-loved design is always the best, and that certainly applies here, with the low front bumper and classic multi-dial dashboard.
And the style of this one is perfectly set off by the ‘Kent’ alloy wheels.
Aside from the above, it seems to have been pretty well-specified. It’s fitted with auxiliary front lights, electric windows (rare on a Series 1) manual choke, thermostatically controlled kenlowe fan, and stainless exhaust , along with the usual power steering and decent brakes that make these classics so useable in modern traffic conditions.
History-wise we have a file going back to 1980.
It seems to have spent much of it’s life in long-term ownership in Madrid, which may account for it’s remarkable state of preservation. Documents in the history indicate it was in the hands of a Swedish film director based in Madrid, from at least 1985 until it was repatriated from him in Spain in 2019
Over the past 4 years, it’s seems to have had a fortune spent on it mechanically. Having been underneath it, all the rear suspension has been rebuilt, and the brakes too, and a new pair of fuel tanks inc pipework. The carburettors have also been rebuilt, and there are recent bills for general servicing etc
We’ve just spent an eye-watering amount on it having the overdrive rebuilt, the underside fluids changed, and general fettling, and it’s now ready for a new owner who’ll hopefully enjoy it to the full while appreciating it’s quality.
Odometer reading 4000 miles, which we think, for the avoidance of doubt, is actually 104000 miles.
It looks really nice, and it drives beautifully too.
It will come with our usual 6-month warranty
On our own website, you’ll find our usual comprehensive walkaround and driving videos, which form part of the description
