Description
The ultimate cat - This is how the third and final version of the now legendary E-Type was announced in 1971. 10 years after the sensation of the Geneva Motor Show, the Series III received the newly developed 5. 3 litre V12. The new engine was made entirely of aluminium and, with 276 hp, made the new E-Type the most powerful of its kind. The radiator grille was enlarged for the V12 and the bodywork was widened slightly to accommodate the wider wheels. Otherwise, the body was largely the same as its predecessors. Even if some of the original aggressiveness was lost as a result of the revisions, comfort and long-distance capability were significantly improved with the Series III. A true British Grand Tourer and an important part of automotive history. This E-Type V12 Open Tourer Sports (OTS) was one of the last of its kind to be delivered in New York in August 1973. The car was ordered to the East Coast in 'Pale Primrose' including hardtop and then found its way into a private collection in Beverly Hills. The car remained there until the collection was dissolved in 2018. From there, the car was exported into the possession of a Swiss enthusiast. At that time, the car was in completely original condition with only 20, 000 miles on the clock. Due to the car's long service life, some investment had to be made in the mechanics in Switzerland. In the last 4 years, over CHF 70, 000 has been invested in the mechanics. This includes the revision and overhaul of hydraulic components, all bearings and bushes of the chassis and, most recently, the revision of the rear axle in our workshop. Since then, the vehicle has been driven extensively throughout Europe. The original leather interior has been professionally refurbished and maintained. The underbody has been dry ice blasted and is absolutely rust-free. The engine and 4-speed manual gearbox work perfectly. One of only 6, 119 V12 Roadsters with rare original accessories such as hardtop, wire wheels and air conditioning. A beautiful and completely original car with known history, full matching numbers and colours including all original delivery documents, brochures and heritage certificate, with veteran registration.
