Coming to us from a decesased estate and looking resplendent is Opalescent Blue with chromed wire wheels and navy blue interior, this E type cuts quite a dash.
This particular example was comprehensively restored in 2007 by The Hutson Motor Company in Bradford when the colour was changed from red to blue. Looking at the Heritage Certificate, it appears the car was cream when new. There is a book of pictures of the restoration plus bills on file amounting to many £000s of pounds. By the look of the pictures, this was a nut and bolt rebuild and the pictures indicate the engine was also rebuilt at the same time.
We understand that the odometer was zero’d during the restoration process which is completely understandable given the circumstances. The car has since covered just under 6k miles.
The exterior paintwork has stood up particularly well since restoration – although there are some marks on the roof on the driver’s side. Chrome work is a little pitted and marked as are the chrome wires. The interior is in lovely condition. The seats and door cards look brand new and the dials are clear and unmarked.
There is a separate file of bills and invoices including a running total summary compiled by the deceased of money spent on the car during his tenure (we assume) up to 2009 of £39735. 80.
Overall a super example. It is likely to restore an E Type to this standard would cost much more than you would have to pay to secure this car so don’t miss out !
Please bear in mind the car is from a deceased estate, and as such has been stood 12 months or so, so an element of recommissioning will be required.
