Y683 PSN was supplied new by Fisken Motor Group of Forfar in Scotland who were a Main Agent for Subaru in the early 2000's. Inside the original leather wallet from the supplying dealer is a fully stamped service book with Fisken carrying out the first 9 services at 1126, 5035, 8519, 11316, 17766, 23628, 28428, 32836, and 36864 miles up until February 2006. A further 6 main dealer stamps fill the remainder of the book at 41005, 42834, 49509, 56117, 59906, and 63345 miles. At 70, 000 miles in 2011, the Subaru had been taken for a full engine rebuild at Chris Palmer Auto Services, a Subaru Tuning and Rally Preparation Specialist based in Bristol. From this point the car has covered an average of 1600 miles a year and has been used sparingly and stored exceptionally well.
In 2018, Y683 PSN was purchased by a Welsh gentleman who made it his goal to make this Subaru Impreza P1 the best on the market. Over the first 3 years of his ownership £10, 000 was spent with on new Wilwood calipers, 2-piece Wilwood brake discs, brake pads, a new set of Pirelli P0 GT tyres, new upgraded BC Racing Coilovers, uprated heavy duty anti roll bars, GFB hybrid outlet valve, fuel tank, rear lamps, clutch slave cylinder, a steering system overhaul, a major service which included the cambelt being replaced, and the underside was thoroughly cleaned and waxoiled. Carrying out this impressive work was a company called FflatFour Performance, a Subaru Specialist based in Wrexham.
In 2021, the owner spent a further £15, 000 on the already impressive P1 with Cotton Competition of Preston, a Subaru specialist with a wealth of Rally experience. Over a 7-month period, Cotton carried out extensive work where they removed the engine and gearbox, fully rebuilt the gearbox, fitted a new clutch kit, and balanced the flywheel. While the engine and gearbox were removed, they stripped, cleaned, and painted the engine bay, supplied and fitted a new turbocharger, and replaced all the necessary gaskets, fluids, nuts and bolts as required. They also fitted a new A/ C condenser, new belts, new engine mounts, replaced all the cooling system hoses, and re-bushed the suspension. With the car all back together, Cotton professionally remapped the car fitted an additional control unit for driving modes. The car has covered less than 300 miles since this impressive program of work was carried out and presents exceptionally well.
To take this magnificent car out in the North Yorkshire countryside is a thrill, the tuned and turbocharged 2. 0L engine is super fit, the rebuilt gearbox feels tight, the stopping power from the uprated drilled and grooved 2-piece brakes is fantastic, the handling is made even better with the stiffness from the BC Racing coilovers.
