Description
Built 18th-19th February 1963 and dispatched on the 1st March of that year, YNF 286A is a original Healey Blue with Navy interior, overdrive and wire wheel car. Fully restored in 1988 the car has covered around 20, 000 miles since with many further improvements made more recently. As fantastic driving, upgraded LHD Healey the car would make for great touring on the continent or could be converted to RHD very easily for the new owner.
Externally YNF 286A presents wonderfully. The Healey Blue metallic paintwork has a wonderful shine to it, the chrome wire wheels dazzle and the badge bar plus original works style luggage rack with a leather period suitcase makes it a very visually charming car.
On the inside the Navy upholstery remains in pleasing shape since restoration with period auxiliary gauges nicely integrated into the centre of the dash and all fully operational. The carpet is a lighter finish than typically finish which brightens up the interior nicely. Protective rubber over mats are also fitted.
Mechanically YNF is in very good shape with new leaf springs and tyres having just been fitted. The car drives especially well, performance is very good thanks to the fitment of electronic ignition and the car sounds superb with a full stainless exhaust system fitted. The gearbox is smooth, and the car stops, steers and rides as it should. This is not due to luck however as a great deal of time and effort has been made over the years to make the car usable, durable and enjoyable including:
- Fitment of a high torque starter motor
- A spin on oil filter for easy servicing/ better filtration
- A uprated Denis Welch oil pump for engine longevity
- A oil pressure warning light has been fitted discretely
- A overdrive warning light has been fitted
- There is a fuel pump cut off switch as a additional security measuring
- Electronic ignition has been fitted for better performance and reliability
- There is a volt meter, clock and oil pressure gauge additionally fitted
- 12V/ USB charging points are fitted
- The car has separate rear indicators fitted where the reflectors usually sit for safety
- Spot lights are fitted for touring
- An additional electric fan is fitted
- A electric screen washer is fitted
- A positive crankcase ventilation upgrade has been fitted for less fumes
- Additional heat shields have been fitted to the underside of the car body
- Under carpet thermal heat insulation has been fitted to cool the cockpit
